Thank You, Jon Stewart

I cannot understand the opposition to gay marriage. I have heard the arguments and every one of them seem to be based on religious doctrine, fear, or hatred. Legal decisions should be based on fact and logic, not on emotions. I have not heard one argument that makes any kind of logical sense to me.

Americans have fought (and continue to fight) for equal rights for minorities and for women. As our society matures, shouldn't this fight get easier for other oppressed groups? Shouldn't we learn, as a nation, from our past mistakes and more easily see that gay marriage poses no more threat than interracial marriage (which was also taboo not too long ago)?

In this interview, Jon Stewart confronts Mike Huckabee's opposition to gay marriage. Though the interview ends with an agreement to disagree, for my money, Jon Stewart won the debate.

My favorite line: "Religion is far more of a choice than homosexuality."
