Turtle Bread is a family tradition. When the boys were little I found this recipe in a kids' cookbook and started making it for special dinners.
I was just looking through old pictures and came across these from Thanksgiving 2005.
It's a simple bread recipe, but before baking the dough is divided and pieced together to form a turtle shape with raisin eyes. The kids love it!
A quick google search came up with the actual recipe from Betty Crocker. There's a picture too, but I think mine is much cuter -- even if the Betty Crocker pic has more realistic turtle dimensions.
And the bread is really tasty... once you can get past the idea of tearing apart the cute little turtle!
